The human resources department operates under the oversight of the Human Resources Committee, which approves various actions and acts as an administrative hearing body for grievances filed by unions and individual employees against the City. The Human Resources Committee meets on the third Monday of the month, with the exception of January. January's meetings are held on the 4th Monday of the month. All Human Resources Committee meetings begin at 5:00 pm and are held in Room 204 of the Government Center.

Police and Fire Commission
For police department and fire department protective service employees, the Police and Fire Commission is the administrative hearing body for disciplinary actions including termination. The Police and Fire Commission meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm in Room 204 of the Government Center.

Civil Service Commission
For non-union employees and city officials, the Civil Service Commission is the administrative hearing body for disciplinary actions including termination and workplace safety issues. The Civil Service Commission meets on an as needed basis.
