Friday April 10th

Monday pick up will be Monday, all others place trash out one day ahead of scheduled pick up day. 
Memorial Day

Monday May 25th

Monday pick up place out on Tuesday, all other days place out on scheduled day of pick up. Be aware there may be delays. 
Independence Day

Friday July 3rd

Monday Pick up will be Monday. All other days, place out one day ahead of scheduled pick up day. 
Labor Day

Monday September 7th

Monday pick up place out on Tuesday, all other days place out on scheduled day of pick up. Be aware there may be delays. 
Veteran's Day Wednesday November 11th Monday pickup will be Monday. Tuesday & Wednesday please place garbage out one day in advance. Thursday and Friday place out on regular scheduled day. Be aware there will be delays. 
Thanksgiving

Thursday November 26th & Friday November 27th Monday pick up will be Monday, Tuesday place out on Monday and all other days place trash out two days ahead of scheduled pick up day. 
Christmas

Thursday December 24th &
Friday December 25th
Monday pickup will be Monday, Tuesday place out on Monday and all other days, place out two days ahead of scheduled pick up day. 
New Year's

Friday, January 1, 2021 No Change in Monday Pick up. All other days, place out one day ahead of scheduled pick up day.

Trash Pickup and Fees


In 2015, the City Council adopted an ordinance to bill customers $7.75 per month per dwelling unit or per cart per month for commercial properties. The original ordinance had a schedule rate increase for all customers to take effect January 1, 2019 from $7.75 per month per dwelling unit and $7.75 per month per cart for commercial properties to $9.75 per month per cart. The fee covers the cost of garbage collection and disposal at the landfill. Prior to 2016 these costs had been covered primarily through revenue from garbage generated outside of Superior, with additional funding from property taxes and other minor sources of revenue. Proceeds from waste generated outside Superior have been steadily declining as more waste is recycled. At the same time, the cost to operate the landfill has continued to increase. As a result the City can no longer provide garbage collection and disposal service without a fee.  The garbage collection fee is mandatory for all single-family homes and multi-family dwellings with up to four units. The fee also applies to any larger multi-family or commercial premises that choose to receive City trash pickup (including nonprofits such as churches). The monthly fee applies year-round, even if a home is only seasonally occupied, or if a rental unit is temporarily vacant.

After a thorough analysis, the City Council has adopted a new garbage fee structure to take effect January 1, 2019.

The service and fee is mandatory for:
Small Residential: All single family homes and multi-family dwellings with up to 4 units. Charged $7.25 per month, per dwelling unit. Additional carts are $7.25 per month. Maximum of 4 carts.

The service and fee is optional for:
Large Residential/Small Commercial: Residential properties containing 5 or more dwelling units and commercial businesses. Charged $9.00 per month per cart. Maximum of 4 carts.

Important things to remember regarding trash pick up:



  • Click HERE to read the city ordinance regarding trash.
  • Containers must be in place at curb or alley for pickup by 7:00 a.m. on collection day. Make sure front of can faces alley/street and is away from obstacles (vehicles, poles, fences, trees, wires, etc.). Your cart should be 3 feet away from any obstacles. 
  • Make sure trash is in leak-proof bags. All animal waste/feces must be securely bagged.
  • Do not overfill or pack items in can as they will not dump.  Lids must be closed.
  • Items that do not fit in cans need to be disposed of at the City Landfill: (715)398-7222
  • Items not accepted: tires, hot ashes, bricks, appliances, demolition materials, pipes, oil, car batteries, asbestos-containing materials, liquids, and yard waste. Grass clippings can be brought to the landfill at any time at no charge.
