Special Assessments

Clerk’s Responsibility

The City Clerk’s office processes the special assessment billing, i.e. sidewalk, blacktop, etc. The public is given approximately 30 days to pay the assessment in full after a project is completed.

If they opt not to pay it in full at that time, the amount will be allocated to their real estate tax bill in 10 annual installments (with 6% interest on the unpaid balance) over the following ten year period. The property owner also has the option of paying this assessment in full at any time, with the applicable interest which would computed at the time of payment.

Closing Requests
Requests for all outstanding balances should be emailed to closinginformation@ci.superior.wi.us; the parcel number and/or street address should also be noted in either the subject/body of your email.

If you would like to obtain the total amount which would be due on the month you plan on paying off the outstanding balance, please complete the Special Assessment Pay-off Request and submit it with the $25 fee to the City Clerk’s office (Suite 200 of the Gov’t Center).
