Nemadji River also flows near the Nemadji Golf Course. Unless fertilized properly, golf courses
are often sources of polluted runoff into rivers and lakes.

Our first sampling site is
on the fishing pier at 31st Ave and 5th St, where we've spotted people -
and ospreys - busy catching fish.

Our second sampling site
is pictured here during flood stage in spring 2006. The water, which is near the bottom of
the bridge, has spread into the floodplain forest beyond the riverbanks.

The Nemadji empties into
Superior Bay near the Burlington Northern ore docks, which look quite
imposing from the ground. The frozen river is carrying a lot woody
debris caught in the ice.
