This site is called a waterway rather than a stream
because flow is not permanent throughout the watershed, and because this
waterway has no official name. This
unnamed waterway is called Billings because it flows through the Billings
Park neighborhood. This waterway experiences intermittent and low
flows for much of its course, which is restricted to a residential
neighborhood. In some places the stream resembles a series of
wetlands bisected by roadways, but by the time it reaches an unnamed bay of
the St. Louis River, it is a slow-flowing stream with a well-preserved
riparian border. This stream is very turbid and receives runoff from
parking lots, roadways, and roofs.
