Why does the fire department do fire inspections?

The fire department is responsible for enforcing laws which we call fire codes, for all businesses and apartment buildings in our community. Most codes are dictated by the State and some are by city ordinance.  A code is a rule which a business or owner of an apartment building must follow for fire safety. The department has 3 Fire Inspectors who inspect businesses and apartment buildings in Superior to insure that codes are being followed.
