Superior Middle School Garden Project
The Superior Middle School Rain Gardens are all about partnerships. In 2005, the City of Superior got a grant from the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program to help teach the community about stormwater pollution. We partnered with two sixth-grade science teachers, Pat O’Connell and Becky O’Brien, to plant rain gardens at the Middle School. Throughout the project we emphasized our purpose: to engage the students in a hands-on project that teaches them the importance of responsible stormwater management.
Our garden is only one year old, but several species had time to bloom! From left to right: obedient plant, smooth aster, and nodding onion.
